one year of being engaged, my thoughts
On July 4th 2022, Morgan and I celebrated our one year of being engaged. It seriously doesn’t seem like it has been in a year because time moves so fast these days.
I am grateful we are having a long engagement because we get to soak up all this time together and really understand what we want. This step of being engaged has been tons of moments I will forever cherish.
We have spent more time planning for the future of our marriage than we have for our wedding. To me, yeah a wedding is fun but its one day of partying. A marriage is a life time commitment to someone that you plan to spend and love with forever. Ask yourself and your partner questions like:
What do we want our marriage to look like?
How can we always know our partner is loved?
What kind of traditions do we want to create?
What can we do together to make our relationship always stay strong?
What ways can I help make your goals more achievable?
What is one major thing we want to accomplish in our first few years of marriage?
How do we want to share our love story with our kids one day?
Are you committed to counseling, if and when we need it?
It’s these questions we have always talked about and talk more in depth before and even after we got engaged. We have been so intentional with talking about the life we want to achieve together, that planning for our marriage has made everything feel so surreal.
Now think… how would you answer these questions?
