wedding wednesday: our marriage registry
A registry to me isn’t just about the wedding day gift, its about the marriage and how guests can show their love for the couple. Along with a guest list, a registry is hard to come up with. You don’t want to ask for too much from your guests but also want to give them something to gift you because of “tradition.”
Morgan & I decided together that we didn’t want tangible items. We decide to only ask for Cash Funds. Now, here me out. You’re probably thinking, “Well why would I give someone just cash? What is the polite way to ask for just cash?” On our wedding website we included a paragraph that is linked to our cash funds that explain our reasonings for wanting one. None of the items we added have a desired amount. Everyone can choose the amount they want to contribute & it can also be left anonymous if that’s what they choose to do.
On our website it says, “We are excited to start our lives together, and we are thankful for our loved ones. As we enter our marriage, we realize that we have enough belongings. Therefore, we have decided to plan the honeymoon & future of our dreams. Our wedding registry includes a honeymoon fund along with personalized experiences and life events - such as excursions, meals, spa days, and a baby fund — that can be given as wedding gifts. We are excited to share our special day with you, and we also look forward to providing glimpses into our honeymoon & share our future with all of you. Thank you!”
To us, this is such a good way for our guests to see the adventures we want to take in our marriage together. We chose two of the items to be our top choices and then added some extras in there that we could do on our honeymoon.
I hope this helps if you’re planning a wedding and not sure that to add to your registry. Below is a picture of the cash funds we included!
